Why Attend A Workshop Meeting and Why Get Feedback?

Feedback on your music can be valuable before you spend money on an expensive, polished recording.
Or, before you meet with a publisher or production music library to pitch your music.
Or, before you hand over your lyrics or tracks to your collaborator.

Or, before you put your songs "out there" on social media.
Or, before you attend an important music conference.
Or, before you send that mp3 to a Music Supervisor.

Or, before you perform your new song live.

Feedback is also helpful when you're trying to get your song or composition to the next level.
Remember that opinions expressed at the Workshop Meetings and by the NSAI Pro Evaluators are just that: Opinions.
But, feedback can be useful when "fresh ears" hear your song for the first time.
Even full-time, professional composers and successful hit songwriters often seek feedback from
trusted sources before their music is ready to be presented to the world.

What Should I Bring To A Workshop Meeting?

- Bring a song, lyrics only, or an instrumental cue
- Rough recordings are encouraged at Workshop Meetings
- Provide a recording of your song on a CD, flash drive or smart phone, or
send the mp3 of your song to the Coordinators Tracey & Vance Marino at tvmarino@cox.net
- If playing live, bring your guitar.  There is also a piano in another room (La Jolla location)
- SONGWRITERS: Bring 12 copies of a 1-page, typed lyric sheet.  Examples HERE

 - COMPOSERS: Bring 12 copies of an Instrumental Feedback Sheet.  Example HERE
- Bring business cards, flyers to your upcoming shows, etc.
Networking is encouraged at all of the NSAI San Diego Chapter meetings and events
so we can get to know each other's music and skills for possible collaboration on projects, etc.
- Bring a guest or co-writer (optional)

Which Genres of Music?

Even though the name is NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International)
this organization is not just for Country songwriters, but for writers of all types (genres) of music:
Jazz, Rock/Blues, Pop, Show Tunes, Rap/Hip Hop, Americana/Folk, Christian/Praise, Classical, and many more.
All songwriters, lyricists, and composers are welcome.
There are many opportunities for songs and instrumentals in today's marketplace,
so come to a meeting and see where your type of music might fit.
